Research Abstract |
Through this study it was identified that the following educational elements should be included in the curriculum for the qualification of professional home health nurse. 1) Nursing skills necessary to provide home health care Emotinal care for the patient and family, educational skill for families, physical care, medical treatment, and rehabilitation skills are supposed to be provided in undergraduate course. Especially the nature of family health care in visiting nursing should be taught at the early term for students to be able to obtain the concrete image of home visit. As for care methods, comprehensive assessment of family relationships and problem solving ability, leading family to solve the problem by themselves, and taking care of them with foresight are important. Eventually teaching the nature of the nursing in home health care setting is essential. 2) Nursing administration Staffs' education, personal management, care quantity and quality control, and administration of agency are included in this subject. These issues usually are not taught in the undergraduate level. Therefore these should be included in the graduate education. 3) Coodination and activities with other professinals and organizations This subject includes the ways of team organization, networking, and advocating of patients. In undergraduate course, we teach and make them understand the role of professional home helth nurse, that is the role of public health nurse who functions in administrative service system.
