Research Abstract |
This study is about the methods of construction and use for the database with sign language of the scientific and technical terms for the assisting information for the hearing impaired. By this database, they can learn the scientific and technical terms with the present microelectoronics. Sign language is generated naturally as the communication methods between mambers of that group and is made with real life base but is not constructed for modern science. The development and diffusion to general society of this kind of sign language is necessary. We are constructing and studying this database by means of multimedia and its effective use collaboratively. This basic study is by the study of project number 04452333. It main theme is 1) upgrading of experimental functions by use of multimedia. 2) diffusion of general society of the methods of use by the network system. For the accomplishment of this study, the following are necessary A) the logical study of sign language, B) the study for the sign language as used by the hearing impaired, C) an engineering study of recognition, generation and transportation with sign language etc. As the next stage, we plan a collaborative study with researchers from various academic fields. Finally, we would like to mention that this study is for the suport of the old age period.
