Research Abstract	本年度における研究実績は次の通りである。(1)予定していた配列モチーフデータベースはほぼ完成した。特に、DNA配列の急激な増加に対応するため、このデータベースの自動更新システムを構築するのに苦労した。しかし、それも稼働するようになり、配列モチーフデータベースもルーチン的に最新のものを作成することが可能となった。ただし、更新に要する計算時間がたとえスーパーコンピュータを利用しても、あまり軽減しないことが今後の課題である。(2)配列モチーフ抽出に不足しているDNA配列を自ら決定できる実験システムをこのグループで確立するため、そのテストケースとして、マウスやハゼ等を用いてミトコンドリアDNA抽出実験を行った。特に、未知の生物主のDNA配列を決定する際には、慎重にまずクローニングをした方がよいということがわかった。このため、急遽、購入を予定していたPCRシステムに変えて、DNAクローニングシステムを購入した。このこともあって、マウスとマハゼのミトコンドリアDNAの抽出とDNAクローニングに成功した。これらの実績をもとに、機能未知タンパク質の機能推定を神経系や筋肉系のアセチルコリンレセプターのサブユニットをはじめ、生物機能上重要と考えられるタンパク質に的を絞って研究を続行している。
