Research Abstract |
The aim of this research is to analyze tribological properties of new porous carbon materials "Woodceramics" which is made of woody materials impregnated with phenol resin and carbonized in a vacuum furnace at high temperatures. From the research in 1995, it is obtained that friction coefficient and specific wear rate of Woodceramics decrease with carbonizing temperature, under dry condition, oil impregnated condition or in water. From the research in 1996, it is obtained that a linear slide bearing can be made by using Woodceramics, and it shows low noise because difference of static friction and kinetic friction is very small. From the research in 1997, it is obtained that Woodceramics shows no seizure or no severe wear even in high contact pressure under ATF lubrication, so Woodceramics can be used as new clutch materials.
