Research Abstract |
In the field of apparel designing, computer-aided design systems for apparel designers have never been developed. With use of conventional 2D design drawings, it takes much time (about half a year) to make sample clothes and costs much money (about 50,000,000yen) to hold a fashion show. In order to overcome such a situation and to provide young designers more convenient and stimulating means than pencils and papers, this research started to develop a computer-aided 3D apparel design system for fashion designers and to realize a virtual fashion show. It has achived good results as follows : 1. Genetation of a standard human body model and realization of a locall modification function for the model 2. Generation of a fundamental clothes (jacket and skirt) shape model and realization of various kinds of operation (cut, deformation, combine, etc.) to the clothes shape model 3. Modeling and simulation of dynamic deformation process of clothes using mass-spring-damper model 4. Realistic representation of textiles We made three presentations at an ccademic society.
