Research Abstract

マルチメディアデータを表現するうえで基本的なデータである空間データ,時間データ,時空間データについて以下の研究をおこなった.
・空間,時間,時空間データを統合して格納・表現するためのデータモデルUniverseにおける各種データの集合演算や述語を計算するためのアルゴリズムの設計と実装を行った.Universeデータモデルでは,これらデータは空間,時間,非空間データの直積空間における位相空間として定義される.そして位相空間は単体的複体を用いて表現される.単体的複体を用いることによりデータの次元や種類によらず統一的にこれらデータとその演算や述語を表現できる.
・空間,時間,時空間データに関する問い合わせ言語を提案した.この言語はオブジェクトデータベース標準ODMGの提供するデータ定義・問い合わせ言語ODL/OQLに時空間的なデータクラスと演算子を導入することで得られる.この言語を用いるとUniverseデータモデルで表現された空間,時間,時空間データに関する問い合わせをそれぞれの特性に応じた形で表現できる.それゆえ,利用者は問い合わせを容易に記述できる.
・ODL/OQLで表現された問い合わせをUniberseデータ表現に即した問い合わせに変換する方法を研究した.この変換によって,各種データに関する表現は,直積空間中の位相空間に関する集合演算と述語に変換される.位相空間に関する表現に変換するこのとによって時空間問合せ処理の効率があがる.
・時空間インデックスをR*-treeをベースに設計・実装した.R*-treeにおいては各座標軸間のスケーリングが考慮されていないので,データをクラスタリングするときに各軸の重みがまちまちになってクラスタイリングの性能が悪くなる.ここではデータに対して正規化を行って各軸のスケールの影響が等しくなるようにした。
