Research Abstract |
An increasing number of international students are studying at the university in Japan. The purpose of this study was to find strategy of understanding and promoting cultural exchange with international students. Japanese students, academic advisers, administrative staffs, host families and school teachers were examined by questionnaire made from interview that international students had recieved negative experiences, dufficulties and cultural gap in Japanese life. At the same time, Jananese students and staffs were inquried communication style with foreigners. Furthermore, we could know the process of better understanding on other culture among academic advisors and students helping international students as volunteers. Several interviews had attempted to make their closs-cultural cntact clear. According to these results, we will make out handbook to understand and overcome cultural gap and then distribute it widely among the people who have many contact with international students.
