Research Abstract	3次元・4次元多様体及びそれに含まれている結び目、絡み目、グラフ、曲面について幾何、代数、解析的手法及び計算機を駆使して多方面から研究を行った。多様体の葉層構造、力学系、特性コホモロジー、ホモトピー、交叉形式の理論、関数環の分析などを手がかりに、多様体のDS-diagramと組み合わせ論的研究、特に3次元多様体を球面上のグラフに変え、それを組み合わせ論的に研究した。1つの多様体を定めてその中に含まれる結び目、絡み目、グラフの分類、特に空間グラフ(spatial graph)の分類についてや平面的グラフ(planar graph)を空間に埋め込んで結び目としての射影の結果を得た。グラフ上の全てのサイクルと同じ個数の任意の結び目を用意し、その結び目を全て実現しているような空間グラフが存在するとき、そのグラフは順応性を持つというが、この順応性(adaptability)を持つグラフについていくつかの結果を得た。またグラフの空間表現において何を標準的なものとすべきかという問題を考え、2つの標準的と考えられる概念を提案し、それに沿っていくつかの結果を得た。空間グラフを分類する同値関係としてグラフホモローグという概念を導入し、この同値関係に関する完全不変量を導入し、これによってグラフホモローグによる分類が完全に出来ることを示した。さらにユークリッド空間内のグラフに対して全曲率を定義して、いくつかのグラフに対して全曲率がいつ最小になるかを決定した。この結果は閉曲線の全曲率に対する微分幾何学の古典的結果の一般化になっており、今後の発展が期待される。
