Research Abstract	研究代表者河原田は「科学技術計算におけるパラレル・アルゴリズム」というテーマで、国際会議を平成7年5月22日-24日の期間千葉大学で開催した。そこでは、この分野の世界的権威である R. Glowinski, J. Periaux, M. Petitt, O. Pironneau, Z. C. Shi, P. Le Tallec や O. Widlundなどが講演した。その内容は,偏微分方程式の境界値問題に対する領域分割法の数値解法としての理論的研究及び物理・工学現象への適用や領域分割法にもとづく並列アルゴリズムの開発などである。また,研究代表者は、研究分担者の協力のもとに,「Domain Decomposition Method(DDM)研究会」を主催し、隔月に研究会を継続的に開き、現在まで8回開催した。ここでは、大学の研究者や企業,民間研究機関の研究者から、DDMに関する理論的研究や新しい数値計算アルゴリズムの提案、また実際に、使われている並列計算機による計算方法や計算結果などが紹介され、毎回活発な研究・討議が行われている。それらの研究交流が、研究代表者及び研究分担者の研究を効果的に前進させている。特に研究代表者の進めている研究,すなはち,流体運動の境界面にあらわれる流体現象の諸相を領域分割法で解明するという本科学研究のテーマは,従来の研究にない新しい研究領域を拡大している.
