Research Abstract |
(1) Characterization of Multimedia Traffic From the data analysis for a sequence of frames generated by MPEG2 variable bit rate encoding of a motion picture video, we have computed the Hurst parameter values as a measure of long-range dependence in the traffic source process. (2) Performance Evaluation of the D Channel Access Control Scheme in ISDN By the analysis of stochastic process and simulation for a model of the D channel access control scheme in the ISDN basic user/network interface, we have evaluated the throughput and mean waiting time for both signal and packet transmission from the terminals to the network. (3) Analysis of Queueing Systems We have studied a number of queueing systems with priority-based service scheduling including cyclic priority (polling models) and preemptive loss priority discipline. We have also developed several procedures for calculating the higher-order moments of the waiting time using Mathematica software.
