Research Abstract |
Recently, Bridges have been required not only safety and economy but also rationality and high quality. In 1993, vehicle's design loads of highway bridge were changed from 20 tonf to 25 tonf. Moreover, design method of highway bridges is investigated in order to change the method from allowable stress design to limit state design. Considering these situation, it needs to investigate the vibration serviceability of highway bridges which is one of the serviceability limit state. In this study, the previous researches concerned with human response to vibration and the vibration serviceability of a existing bridge by the field survey are discussed. In the first, the previous research reports and the design codes concerned with human response to vibration and vibration serviceability of bridges were collected and sorted. And the proposed evaluation methods and standards were compared and discussed. Secondly, the field survey on the vibration serviceability of a Langer girder bridge was carried. In this survey, amplitude of bridge vibration caused by public vehicles, human response to bridge vibration and traffic volume of large vehicles and pedestrian were measured. The measured data were analyzed and discussed. Additionally, vibration serviceability of the Langer girder bridge chosen the field survey was evaluated. As the results of this research, numerical data concerned with vibration of existing highway bridge, which are fundamental data for vibration serviceability, were obtained. And, the possible simplified evaluation method of vibration serviceability of existing highway bridges was confirmed from the relationship among human response, amplitude of bridge vibration and traffic volume of large vehicles.
