Research Abstract

This study have considered about the local housing system and the linkage between forestry and housing, in order to succeed and develop the wooden culture in the future. So we analyzed the result of existed study and made some investigation.
The results are the followings :
(1) The Condition and Problems of Wooden Housing System
a) The Lack of Carpenters and Artists ; Now machinery tools and processing machine are infiltrating Carpenters and Artists, and it caused that there is no difference in quality and design between mass-produced houses and local original houses, and that house-maker's house has infiltrated local timber housing system. We propose to local carpenters and builders that it is necessary to appeal own skill and technique for enhancing carpenters' and artists' craftsmanship and the social appreciation, to educate carpenter's talent by each company and association, and to make chance of creation and production for young carpenters.
b) The Lack of Design Ability in Local Smal l Builders ; The house design by artistic way is applied into the classifiable design owned to carpenter's experience. That's why they will not make efforts to grasp clients' needs, then they will design clients' houses simply and monotonously. We found that it is important to compose the system for artists, carpenters and designers to collaborate each other, as well as to clear clients' own needs.
(2) The Condition and Problems of The Linkage between Local Forestry and Housing The local forestry and sawing composed with small companies is under management condition because of wood price's decreasing according to importing foreign wood. As this, wooden size and quality is being standardized in wooden market. Now, some associations and companies have tried to introduce the precut system, or some forestry owners, builders and architects have tried to collaborate to use local wood. In the future, it will become important to activate the relationship and network between forestry and housing, and to plan and design for using local wood.
Therefore, we consider as future study problems that the trial to make the linkage system like this, and, as well as, to develop the technique of using local wooden buildings.
