Research Abstract

Glutinous rices were planted mainly at the Northern Kanto district. But now they are planted mainly at Hokkaido, Niigata and Saga Prefecture. About forty percent of glutinous rices are planted in these areas. But the production of glutinous rice is very changable. This is the most important problem.
Rice cakes are made by many enterprises. But few big enterprises are situated in Niigata Prefecture. The top of these enterprises is Kameda-Seika Company.
Glutinous rices harvested in Hokkaido are transported mainly to East Japan. And These harvested in Saga are transported mainly to West Japan.
Consumption of glutinous rices in Japan decreases gradually.
Now one of the problems of glutinous rice in Japan is the problem of improted glutinous rices. Because market of the glutinous rice is very small.
