Research Abstract |
1. We have established the model using dog for compression of cervical spinal cord by means of mesuring SCEP and MEP Spinal cord was removed from both compressed group and control group, and anterolateral tract was selectivly excised and immediately frozen section was prepared for X-ray Microanalysis. Element concentration within the neural fiber was evaluated, and the results were comrared between the two groups. 2. Also anterolateral tract of spinal cord, which was removed and excised, was examined by confocal laser scanning microscope. Comparative study was done of the morphology of neural fiber of spinal cord, and its strength of fluorescence. 3. From experiment 1, decrease of a amplitude of evoked potential with the severity of the degree of paralysys, related with the increaseof calciumion, was observed. These result suggest the correlation between the decrease of evoked potential and the decrease of electric stimration of cell membrane. From experiment 2, the strength of fluorescence showed the decrease at the level of direct compressive force. The degree of this decrease was correlated with the degree of paralysys, as well as the degree of the amplitude of evoked potential. 4. We think the evaluation of the pathophysiolosy at the level of neural cell was established with the experimental model using confocal laser scanning microscopy, and X-ray microanalysis. Also, the selective evaluation of motor neuron, which was the goal of 1996, was achieved by choosing the dog for the experiment.
