Research Abstract |
In fetal rat submandibular rudiment, many growth factors (EGF,TGF-a, NGF,HGF) and their receptors were detected by immunohistochemical staining. These results suggested that growth factor systems were important for epithelial morphogenesis and branching of the epithelium into the mesenchyme. In adult rat submandibular gland, bcl-2 staining was confined to striated duct cell. On the other hand, bcl-2 was positive at all of fetal submandibular rudiment cell. It was suggested that bcl-2 expression in fetal submandibular rudiment relate to epithelial-mesenchymal interactions, play an important role in differentiation and prolifteration of submandibular rudiment.
