Research Abstract |
In these studies, the developmental results of bio-ceramics were discussed using theorertical considerations. It was done by theoretical models which included the interfaces, for example, such as silica/plaster in dental investment, ceramic interface of castable glass ceramics and resin composite/dentine interface. These concepts were applied to solve stress distribution along the interfaces. First, my calculation model explained the change of interfacial stress for the first two. Secondly, the interface model expressed theoretical stress values along the interafces. Also, the surface characterization was expressed by XPS analysis and also micro-hardness of the layr as an interafce. From these results, I summarized that the quality of the layr, that is, Poisson ratio, elasticity and interfacial stress, was very important in estimating the mechanical and elastic properties. These studies gave the methods to develop newly-designed bio-ceramics for dental and medical applications theoretically.
