Research Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the method of evaluation of CAI-learning through the monitoring of psycho-physiological indices. In 1995, we constructed the system of monitoring of heart rates (HRs) and the method of real-time analysis of HRs. Regarding tonic HRs, respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) was evaluated through the spectrum of temporary fluctuation of HRs which was obtained by the maximum entropy method. In 1996, we investigated the properties of number concept in children with mental retardation and clarified the facilitation method of development of number concept. It was found taht equivalent relationship between written numerals and spoken numbers tends to develop but the equivalent relationship between other numeral stimuli shows developmental lag in children with mental retardation. When the teaching material corespondents to the developmental level of subject's number concept, occurrence of clear decrease of HRs was observed. Above results indicated that the monitoring of HRs is effective to evaluate learning process of CAI in children with mental retardation.
