Research Abstract

研究班1(熱帯湿地林地域サブチーム)は、研究対象地をタイ・ナラチワに設け、リーダーを含め7名の研究分担者とその他の多くの研究協力者により、熱帯湿地林地域における生物生産性の維持メカニズムの解明と環境修復技術の開発という研究課題に取り組んだ。本年度は、砂質土壌でのフタバガキ科樹木等の試験造林と後背湿地に自生するメラル-カの環境ストレス反応に関する研究、自然湿地林および荒廃地での炭酸ガス等の環境動態の研究、湿地の環境ストレスに対するイネの反応に関する研究などを行った。砂質土壌の畑地・牧草地としての利用の可能性を検討することが課題である。
研究班2(熱帯雨林丘陵林地域サブチーム)は、研究対象地をマレーシア・サラワク州ランビルに設定し、リーダーを含め8名の研究分担者とその他の多くの研究協力者により、丘陵性熱帯雨林生態系の生物相互作用の生態生理機構の解明と持続的生物生産技術の開発という研究課題に取り組んだ。本年度は、気象がShoreaの結実に及ぼす影響に関する調査等の大規模生態観測区を用いた研究を行った。さらにバカム造林試験区を新たに設置し、焼畑により失われた森林の再生に関する研究に着手した。試験造林に供する樹種や苗の供給法等の検討が今後の課題である。
研究班3(砂漠化防止サブチーム、塩類土壌サブチーム)は、研究対象地を中国黄土高原および中国黄・准・海平原に設け、リーダーを含め14名の研究分担者とその他の多くの研究協力者により、中国黄土高原・安塞地区の砂漠化防止および中国・三河平原の塩類土壌改良に関する研究という研究課題に取り組んだ。本年度、砂漠化防止サブチームは、黄土は侵食がおこりやすいが水分収支が適正であれば優れた物理性をもっており生産性が高いことを明らかにし、雑草植栽試験により選抜された種を定植し荒廃した山地の土壌侵食を抑えるべく研究を行った。コムギ品種の導入法や住民に利する森林再生法の開発が今後の課題である。また塩類土壌サブチームは、貯水池造成の影響の予備調査や作物・牧草・果樹の選抜試験、ビ-トの栽培試験、塩類の溶脱と集積機構の解析、水稲と陸稲の栽培試験を行った。塩類除去のための家畜飼育法が今後の検討課題である。平成8年度は研究班3を砂漠化防止サブチームと塩類土壌サブチームの2つの研究班に分割して研究を推進する。
研究班4(赤色酸性土壌サブチーム)は、研究対象地をインドネシア・南スマトラに設け、リーダーを含め6名の研究分担者とその他の多くの研究協力者により、赤色酸性土壌地帯における持続的生物生産の回復と維持に関する技術開発という研究課題に取り組んだ。本年度は、土地利用形態毎の諸微生物活性、植生被覆の表層土壌侵食防止効果等の研究と、研究圃場にコーヒー栽培の試験地を設定した。コーヒー以外の生物生産法の開発が今後の課題である。
研究班5(基盤技術研究チーム)は、リーダーを含め24名の研究分担者とその他の多くの研究協力者により、新しい枠組みによる持続的生物生産に関する基礎研究に取り組んだ。本研究班は、4つのサブチームに組織され、それぞれ新植物開発、共生生物機能、地域資源利用、土地生産力評価の研究課題に対して、基盤的な研究を展開しつつある。今後は他の現地適応研究を行っている研究班の会議に参加し、より密接に連絡をとりあい、協力して研究を進めることが今後の課題である。
これらの成果は1996年2月の研究成果報告会で報告され、全研究分担者と多くの研究協力者の参加のもとで、情報の交流と議論を行った。また1996年2月に本研究の概要を載せたニューズレターを発行した。さまざまな手段により、より広く成果を公開することが、今後の課題である。
