Research Abstract |
We made experiments, D(e,e'p) Coincidence Measurements out of the scattering plane, as a member of the OOPS collaboration at the MIT-Bates laboratory in 1996. In the experiments, a liquid deuterium target was irradiated with an electron beam, and scattered electrons and emitted protons were detected simultaneously. This experiments had advantages that the electron beam was longitudinally polarized and protons were detected out of the scattering plane. The electron beam, accelerated by an electron linac with a recirculation system has a duty factor of 1% and a polarization of 40%. Scattered electrons and emitted protons were analysed with 4 spectrometers. The experiments covered two regions, quasi-elastic and dip regions. (1)D(e,e'p) Experiments in the quasi-elastic region. The experiments were made at an electron energy of 800 MeV and a transferred energy of 110.6MeV. The scattered electrons were measured at 30.27゜,where a four-momentum transfer is 0.22(GeV/c)ィイD12ィエD1. We measured asymmetries, AィイD2LTィエD2, AィイD2TTィエD2, and A'ィイD2LTィエD2 at two kinematical conditions, and compared the obtained results with calculations by Arenhovel. The result shows that in the quasi-elastic region, contributions from MEC's and isobar currents are small, and relativistic effects are important. (2)D(e,e'p) Experiments in the dip region. The experiments were made at an electron energy of 800 MeV and a transferred energy of 155 MeV. Scattered electrons were measured at 31゜. We set three OOPS spectrometers for proton measurement at same polar angle (20.5゜)and different azimuthal angles to obtain asymmetries, AィイD2LTィエD2, AィイD2TィエD2, and A'ィイD2LTィエD2. Similar to the case in the quasi-elastic region, the longitudinal-transverse interference term shored importance of the relativistic effects.
