Research Abstract |
The objecative of this research praoject is to attempt measurement of daylight and solar radiation in regions of the Pacific basin with instruments of a common standard under a common set of guidelines, to process the data by a common method, to contribute to activities of the International Daylight Measurement Program (IDMP) and consequently to develop a standard dataset on daylight and solar radiation useful in the regions all over the world. Main subjects of this research is to make "IDMP INDEX", to inspect the IDMP stations concerned and the current status of the measurements, to carry out cross-calibration of illuminance sensors and to analysis the data. In 1996, meetings were held in Fukuoka and Tokyo, where the four Japanese investigators and three overseas investigators discussed the plan to make "IDMP INDEX" and allotted the tasks. They inspected three IDMP stations in Fukuoka, Tokyo and Chofu and visited a manufacturer of instruments which are used at the IDMP stations in Japan and some overseas stations. Besides, the head investigator and a Japanese investigator inspected the Korean station. In 1997, the research work began with a seminar "Daylight Measurement and Appliction in Asia Pacific Region" in Singapore hosted by one of the investigators. The Japanese investigators made several parties to inspect the stations in Singapore, New Zealand, India, Indonesia and Australia. The investigators discussed the current status of IDMP,the results of the sensor calibration, plans for new stations, policies on data exchange and future tasks. "IDMP INDEX" was completed and put on IDMP web server which was developed by one of the investigators. Despite of this research project being terminated, IDMP continues. The investigators will keep in touch with each other and contraibute to the activities of IDMP.
