Research Abstract |
Concurrent with changes in modern educational philosophy and methodology, 'open plan'schools are now coming to be more popular. In this series of studies the author proposed the way how to reorganize the space composition of public school facilities from the viewpoint of actual situation of students'living and learning activities and their abilities of space recognition. The main results of this paper are as follows. 1)From the standpoint of educational philosophy, the classification of the plan types of open spaces in elementary school was proposed and advantage and disadvantage of these were discussed. 2)From the viewpoint of educational methodology, the difference of learning activities in three respective plan types were discussed. 3)From the viewpoint of environmental psychology, the actual situation of pupil's abilities of space recognition was atudied. 4)From the standpoint of architectural planning, the actual condition of pupil's learning and living activities were examined and the way how to reorganize the space composition of school facilities was proposed.
