Research Abstract

本研究は、使用水のリサイクル推進が、異なる局面で招く恐れのある処理設備および資源・エネルギー消費の増大を定量的に解析し、トータルな環境負荷を増大させない効率的な水再利用プロセス像を明らかにするとともに、そのための今後の技術開発の方向に関して提言を行うことを目的としている。
各業種における排水処理プロセスの実態調査結果に基づいて、排水および処理水の水質、処理方式と所要エネルギーの関係を示し、エネルギー消費の観点から今後のCOD削減、すなわち処理水質向上目標の設定および処理プロセスの選択のための指針を提案した。生活・事務系排水の循環利用状況の調査結果をもとに、各排水処理システムの設計条件と製造コストを検討し、水の処理レベルと再生水の用途、単位操作の組み合わせ方法とエネルギー消費との関係を解析した。中水道用の水処理プロセスに対して二酸化炭素排出量を指標にライフサイクルアセスメントを行い、膜分離方式は設置面積が小さく、処理水質が優れているが、建設時と運用時の環境負荷が大きいことが定量的に明らかになった。雨水利用についても、ある実例についてその実績を詳細に検討し、処理コストとエネルギー消費の解析を行うとともに、大規模建物における雨水の利用における水のバランスなどを検討した。加えて、もっとも広く利用されている好気性生物処理法や、今後導入が期待される生物活性炭処理法と膜分離法などについて、各処理方式の処理対象物質および処理最適濃度・到達できる処理水質・所要エネルギーとコストについて定量的評価を行い、エネルギー効率を向上できる操作条件を示した。さらに、既存の窒素・リン除去技術の適用範囲、処理能力とエネルギー消費特性を明らかにし、最適な窒素・リン除去方式を選択するため基礎データが得られた。
