Research Abstract	本基盤研究の主目的として,白亜紀の特異性(高気温,高海水準,海洋の無酸素事変,長い地磁気静穏期,巨大火成活動など)と巨大火成活動との関係を明らかにするため,イベント的地質事変の資料を総括し,今後の研究の方向づけを行うことにした。さらに,その成果を国際地質対比計画(IGCP 350:Cretaceous Environmental Change in East and South Asia)に対する日本の貢献とする。本研究の総括は次の作業過程を通じてとりまとめられた。 1.研究分担者代表会議平成9年1月11日に九州大学で代表会議を開催し,各研究分担者および研究強力者から提出された論文・資料を整理・編集した。とくに,白亜紀イベントとして,海水準変動,生物多様性,海洋プレート沈み込み方向の変化,日本列島・アジア大陸東縁部の大規模火成活動,海洋無酸素事変との関連での事例をまとめることができた。 2.国際集会で成果発表平成8年8月北京で開催した国際地質対比計画 IGCP 350/362 合同シンポジウムで岡田と坂井によりこれまでの研究成果を発表した。 3.出版物の刊行 (1)ニュースレターを2回発行した。(2)東・南アジアの白亜系に関する資料集(Newsletter Special lssue 3)を発行した。(3)本基盤研究報告書を発行した。 4.将来計画本研究課題を今後更に発展的に追求するため,IGCP 350の延長申請を本年10月に行うことにした。
