| Research Abstract |
1997年五月に予定されている第6回準結晶国際会議に対する国内の研究交流を促すことを目的として本研究グループを組織した。年度内に数回の小人数による数回の研究グループ会議と大きな研究会を1回開催した。これら研究会での中心的話題は、準結晶の電子物性とくに異常な電気伝導、準結晶の弾塑性、大きな近似結晶の構造決定などであった。
そのいくつかを少し詳しく以下に述べる。(1)準結晶AlPdReにおいて光伝導が観測され、単純なバンド間遷移ではなくフェルミエネルギー近傍での複雑な緩和過程があることがしされた、(2)AlPdMnにおいてドハースヴァンアルフェン振動観測の試みがなされたが、シグナルは観測されなかった、(3)おおきなAlCuFeの近似結晶の原子配置が決定され今まで考えられていない殻構造が示唆された、など重要な試みの報告がなされた。全体として、大きな近似結晶の単結晶および大きな準結晶を純度と完全性良く作成し、それらの電子物性に関する精緻な研究を実験と理論の共同で多なうことの重要性が指摘された。
