Research Abstract |
From 1997 to '98, we have had a joint research project' Foundation and development of Cities in ancient Orient', which bases on Grant-Pa-Aid for Scientific Research (B) from the Ministry of Education Science, Sports and Culture. In this three years. we had 9 study meetings, each meeting invited lecturer, out of our members, who are specialists of each region, for instance, Egypitan archaeology, Anatolian archaeology etc. As a result, we treated 9 regions of ancient cities (Eastern Mediterranean area, Palestine, Anatolia, Mesopotamia, Persian Gulf area, Iran, Indus, China). The aim of our project are to grasp two points : first, the existing state of ancient cities study of each region, second we find out the common character and regional character on ancient cities. '98 is the final year of this projects, we publish the report "Kodgi Orient ni okern tosi keisei to sono tenkai( Foundation and development of Cities in the Ancient Orient) in Japanese ). 12 essays print carry in this report, each writer discuses the above two points.
