| Research Abstract |
チンパンジー属の映像エソグラム(種の構造パターンの一覧)作成のための第一段階として、研究代表者が、たたき台として、まずタンザニアのマハレ山塊のチンパンジーの行動パターンのグロッサリーを作った。これは231の行動・姿勢・ロコモーション・身振り・表情を定義し、命名したものである。J.グドール、ヴァン・ホーフ、ドワールなどによる適切な定義・命名があるものは、それに従った。これを、各分担者に配付し、現在各亜種とボノボについても、検討を加えている。1997年1月16日、17日の2日にわたって、霊長類研究所において、「類人猿の行動基盤:ビデオを用いたフィールド研究の展望」と題して研究会を開き、威嚇攻撃和解行動、道具使用制作行動、毛づくろい行動、性行動などについて、各フィールドより持ち寄ったビデオを長時間観察して比較の材料とした。大きな収穫は、マハレのチンパンジーとワンバのボノボの威嚇攻撃行動や毛づくろい行動が、行動パターン・文脈・行動の継続時間・行動の意味において大きく異なっていることがわかったことである。一方、ゴリラとチンパンジーの威嚇行動のパターンと文脈はよく似ていた。マハレのチンパンジーは、毛づくろいの要求のさい、多くの身振りパターンを示すが、ワンバのボノボと微妙に違うところがあり、この点については、来年度より詳細な比較をおこなうことにした。8月までには、チンパンジーのグロッサリーを完成させ、年度後半に、それをもとに映像エソグラムを作成した。
