| Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between the mandibular deviation with abnormal occlusion and the Accompanied General Symptoms. Patients with cranio mandibular disorders often complain various associated general symptoms such as headache, stiffness or pain on neck, shoulder and waist, and tiredness.
The authors analyzed the interrelation between the abnormal chewing patterns caused by abnormal occlusion in cranio mandibular disorders (CMD) and the accompanied general symptoms using sirognathograph analyzing system III and the screening guestionnaire of The Japanese Academy of Occlusion and Health. The results were suggested that accompanied general symptoms of CMD were characteristic in the type of occlusal abnormality.
And we studied that the difference of body posture between twenty subjects with lateral deviation of mandible and twenty normal subjects. Subjects in mandibular deviation group were corrected their mandibular position with plastic bite material and the change of body posture due to this normalization was evaluated. Moire topography was utilized in analyzing the body posture. The results from this study suggest that there exist a certain relationship between the body posture and the position of the mandible. It is also suggested the correction of the deviated mandibular position could improve body posture.
We analyzed the influence of mandibular deviation on symmetry of facial morphology using Moire Topography. Three-dimensional facial morphology was evaluted by the Asymmetry Index. It was observed that the mandibular deviation had influence on symmetry of the inside and lower outside parts of the lower face. And in the middle part of the face and the upper outside of the lower face, the obvious asymmetry was not founded both on normal group and on the mandibular deviation group.
