Research Abstract |
I did research on the Buddhist scriptures four times at Zuisinin Temple, Kyoto City, four times at Ninna-ji Temple, Kyoto City, two times at To-ji Temple, Kyoto City and four times at Isiyama-dera Temple, Otsu City, for two years thanks to the good support and the understanding by each temple. One of the purposes was to show the learned society unknown materials. I publicized the way to read Chinese characters as rendered into Japanese of "Soshijikarakyo-Ryakusho", in Isiyama-dera Temple. And I showed the photograph of unknown "Shittan-sho", in Isiyama-dera Temple. It was my second purpose that I make progress in my own study. I am able to get a lot of good results in this sense. I will explain them in the following chapter. My third purpose was to rethink the history of Japanese language again after research of old language materials owned by old temples. I could gain various new results from this point of view. For example, I have come to be assured how the Japanese began to use "YO-ON (contracted sound)" and how it was developed.
