Research Abstract |
We made the following studies and report them at the international sympsium of muon catalyzed fusion (Switzerland, 1998) and at the workshop of urtra-high intensity muon beam(Tsukuba, 1999) 1)We made a comprehensive new calculation of initial muon-alpha sticking probability in the dtmu fusion. So far, usual calculations assumed (a)sudden approximation, (b)no coupling between the d-t-mu channel and alpha-n-mu channel and (c)angular momentum=0 between alpha and n after fusion. We developed a sophisticated method which does not assume any of them, The result was that the initial sticking increased slightly to 0.94% from 0.92%. This means that the regeneration factor R should be larger than that was considered before. 2)There is a possibility of obserbing double-muonic molecules when the urtra-high intensity muon beam is realized in a future experiment at JHF or RAL, We made a four-body calculation of double-muon hydrogen molecules and predicted the energy level structure. 3)We calculated energy level and fusion probability of ttmu molecule. Also calculated is the decay rate of muonic molecule t^3Hemu. 4)We developed a general computational program for any three-body bound states with central, spin-orbit and tensor forces. It was registered as a library program of Kyushu University Computer Center. We. wrote a review paper of muon catalyzed fusion.
