Research Abstract	オーストラリア産キク科ハハコグサ連植物30属75種112集団とプルケア連植物3属6種8集団で染色体数を算定した。プルケア連植物が、全てx=10の基本染色体数をもつにの対し、ハハコグサ連植物では、基本染色体数がAngianthus属でn=13、12、6、Asteredia属でn=9、7、Erymophyllum属でn=14、11、Gnephosis属でn=11、8、Hyaloserma属でn=12、11、8、Lawrencella属でn=11、8、Millotia属でn=13、11、8、Myriocephalus属でn=14、11、Podolepis属でn=12、11,10,8,7,3,Pogonolepis属でn=6,5,4,Polycalymma属でn=14、8、Pycnosorus属でn=10、6、Rhodanthe属でn11、10、8、7、5、Trichanthodium属でn=4、3と著しく変異していた。ハハコグサ連植物の中で最も著しい染色体変異シリーズがみつかっているPodolepis属を中心に、近縁属のmatk遺伝子の塩基配列を比較した。シオン連Olearia pimerioidesを外群にPodolepis属17種、Waitzia属、Asteridia属、Leptorhyncos属、Chrysocepalum属、Bracteanthe属、Rhodanthe属、Podotheca属1種の系統を解析した結果、以前、Helipterum属に含められていたPodolepis kendalleを除き、残りのPodolepis属の種は、単系統群にまとまった。また、Podolepis属内は、多年草でn=12、11、10をもつ群と、一年草でn=11、7、3をもつ2群に分かれ、前者は、P.canescensを除き、大型5個、小型5個の染色体を組み合わせた特徴的な2様相型をもっていた。後者は、n=7をもつ種は大型で1様相核型をもつが、P.microcephalaはn=11で、大型4個と超小型7個の染色体を組み合わせた特徴的な核型をもち、大型3個の染色体をもつP.capillarisと同一のクラスターをつくった。ハハコグサ連のPodolepis属においても、これまで分析したシオン連Brachyscome属同様、染色体数の異数的減少と多年草から一年草への変化が強く相関していることが明らかになった。
