Research Abstract |
To clarify the characteristics of the Himalayan elements of the genus Impatiens (Balsaminaceae) the morphological and cytogenetical studies were carried. For the comparison Japanese plants of Impatiens were studied. 1 Impatiens nubigena W.W.Sm.has the most uniquw flower in Impatiens. The spur of the lower sepal is intruding into the inside of the lower sepal. A detailed description of the unique flower was given. 2 Five new species, Impatiens wuchengyii, I.luchunensis, I.maguranensis, I.clavigeroides and I.linearisepala were described from S Yunnan, China. Two species, I.kamitilongensis and I.prophyrea, were first reported from China (S Yunnan). Chromosome numbers and karyotypes of 15 species of Impatiens collected from Yunnan were investigated. 3 Impatiens microhypophylla Nakai were cleared to be a variety of I.hypophylla and distibuted almost all the range of var.hypophylla.
