Research Abstract |
We have developed a Micro Manipulation system Simulator (MMS) in which we have constructed a micro world and an apparatus to handle micro objects in a computer. Using MMS, We have made experiments to make clear technical skill learning processes of micro manipulation tasks simulating gene operations, endoscopic operations, micro surgery, VLSI check and repair processes. We have confirmed that (1) in the learning processes mental models play important roles, (2) beginners and middle stage learners have different mental models, (3) auditory feedback information promotes to form of mental models, (4) MMS is effective to study skill learning processes of micro manipulation tasks and human interfaces in this technical field. Also, we have developed a system to record biometric indices in the manipulation tasks. And we have obtained some indices to understand stages of learning of the operators.
