Research Abstract |
This study proposes a method to evaluate road roughness from the viewpoint of wheelchair users and aged persons. In 1997, the study proposed a method to evaluate road roughness from the viewpoint of wheelchair users. Two types of wheelchair users' complaints were discussed, one may have been derived from viscere resonance and the other is derived from stimuli to damaged spinal colum. The study quantified perceptive functions of the two through field tests. The study also proposed a model of man-wheelchair system to calculate the vibration of wheelcair caused by motion on road with various roughness. It was revealed that there was not much difference of both footstep and minimum distance from road roughness to toes between man and old persons age by experiment in 1996.
