Research Abstract |
(1) Analysys of Radiological Image Information in Dentistry For the communication with the DICOM system already installed, dental and panorama image objects will be conventional IOD of CR or SC.The following attributes, however, cannot be described by the elemts defined in the present standards, and tags were newly defined in the shadow groupes. (Description of kind of the image DENTAL/PANORAMA,Site of the Examination, Radiographing Technique, Angulation of Projection, Size of Film/Cassette) The prototype developed in 1996 was reviced to support the additional standards defined in DICOM supplement 32, Sep.1997. (2) Development of Dental Radiological Information System (D-RIS) Workstaion We designed a RIS software system for dentistry based on the CTN software, which was freeware suprting DICOM functions incluging the image database server. The D-RIS suports the STORAGE and QUERY/RETRIEVE service with key elements of modality, site of examination, radiographing technique and projection angl

e. for the application to DICOM Suppl.32, some subprograms are presentry under construction. A video camera and 35mm film scanner were connected to the workstation to input the sample images. A software was developed to convert the image data to the DICOM format. For the utilization in the clinical office, an input device seemed to be required which had higher image quality than the video camra and faster processing speed than the film scanner. (3) Design of the interface to the Ordering System Our Hospital Information System, in the present design, generates a study ID unique in a day, patient information, site, ets., by the query with patiesnt ID.Using these information, we design the software for generating a DICOM object. (4) Trials of Tele-Radiology We also developed a software system to recieve the image and interpretation order through the Internet, edit the report, and reply it. We tested the system between Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Kyushu University. The DICOM objectd of a intraoral radiography transfered about fifteen minutes. Less
