| Research Abstract |
The hypobranchial glandulor secretions of live Akanishi (Rapana) is good dye material such as direct dye, and the prepared shellfish purple is employed in reduction (vat) dye.
From 1996 till 1997, I studied the dyeing property of shellfish purple from Akanishi (Rapana) specimen. In vat dying, the most suitable condition is as follows :
1.Concentration of shellfish purple・・・・・・30-50%
2.Concentration of sodium hydroxide・・・・・・10-15g/1
3.Concentration of sodium lydrosulfite・・・・・・20-30g/1
4.Vatting and dyeing temperature・・・・・・60ﾟC
5.Dyeing time・・・・・・10-20min.
6.Frequency of dyeing・・・・・・3 times
The 15 species of hypobranchial grands of the molluscs which live in the Ariake Bay, the East China Sea, and the Pacific Ocian, contains each percent of 6,6'-dibromoindigo, monobromoindigo, and indigo.
