Research Abstract

東南アジア・太平洋地域における持続的で健全な水資源環境のあり方を明らかにすることを最終目標として,以下のような調査を行った.
【1】東南アジア・太平洋地域の各国の代表河川流域を多数の研究者が同時に調査し,自然的,社会的条件,水資源利用の実態とそれを表すデータの所在,形態,質,アクセス等を調査・特定した.同時に種々の情報交換を行って,重点課題の共通性・相違点を明らかにした.具体的には、タイおよびラオス(平成9年12月),オーストラリア・ニュージーランド(平成10年3月),マレーシア及びインドネシア(平成10年3月)を,それぞれ22人,14人,23人の研究者によって調査した.
【2】水文・水資源に関わる各種データを上記6ヵ国について収集した,また,国際共同利用データベースの構築と通信ネットワークによる共有化を図るために,データベース管理システムの仕様,データの書式仕様についての会議を行い,関係各国間のデータ共同利用ネットワークのあり方について提言を行った.
【3】現地調査及び情報交換による知見と収集したデータを利用して,洪水及び渇水特性の地域比較,水文過程のモデル化,持続可能な水資源環境の解析法の確立,地中水,地下水の流動及び森林域における雨水流出過程の実態と影響の評価などを検討した.さらに,今後推進すべき重点課題を明らかにすることを目標に,訪問した各国において,訪問国での水文・水資源・災害に関する研究報告と日本との間での比較水文学研究の提案を行うための会議を設け,今後の比較水文学研究にとって必要不可欠な情報の交換を行った.
