Research Abstract

本研究では大気圏環境変動の研究として、イメージングリオメーター、及びHFレーダーによる磁気圏プラズマ対流の観測を行い、中間圏、熱圏とともにその長期観測の重要性が確認された(英国、デンマーク)。北極においてもオーロラの共役点観測を実施した(アイスランド)。
また、関連観測データと地上からの観測データの比較を行い、通信観測網についての最新の情報が得られた(スウェーデン、ニュージランド、オーストラリア)。気水圏-固体圏の環境変動の研究としてはイオンマイクロプローブ質量分析計によるセールロンダーネの岩石形成年代の精密測定を実施した(オーストラリア)。さらに、新生代の周氷河作用と環境に関するデータの比較研究を行った(英国)。
本研究分野では航空機観測および輸送網について検討するため、ロシア、オーストラリア、中国、米国、英国より研究者を招聘して、データ解析と研究打ち合わせを行った。その結果、航空機観測及び輸送の実質的な展望が描かれた。一方、南大洋の海洋環境変動の研究においては中・長期的な海洋環境変動に関するデータ解析を行った。インド洋区の海洋観測データの解析において、将来の海洋環境の時間変動とモニタリング観測の具体性について知見を得た(オーストラリア)。
また、海洋観測船による共同観測の現状等、多くの資・試料、データを有している関係機関において実質的な調査研究がなされた(ノルウェー、カナダ、フランス、イタリア、南アフリカ)。さらにオーストラリア、イタリアより専門家を招聘して、インド洋区における環境変動のデータ解析を行い、具体的な共同観側の打ち合わせを行った。
本研究は短期間に実施されたが、南極を中心とした環境変動は春から夏にかけて顕著に発生するといわれている折り、この時期の貴重な観測、データ解析、及び研究打ち合わせはきわめて時宜を得たものとなった。
