Research Abstract |
This international joint project between Japan-USA-Germany entitled "Novel Fluorinated Bioorganic Molecules for the 21st Century" was started in 1997 with Prof.Yoshio Takeuchi of Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University as the head investigator, Dr.Kenneth L.Kirk of NIH, USA, Prof. Guenter Haufe of Westfalische-Wilhelms University, Germany, Prof. Toshio Satoh of Tokushima Bunri University, Prof. Tadashi Kometani of Toyama National College of Technology, Drs.Norio Shibata and Tamiko Takahashi of Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University as co-investigators. Two additional co-investigators, Prof.Siegfried Lodwig of Los Alamos Laboratory (Centralia College), USA, and Dr.Masayuki Kirihara of Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University were invited to this project when the amount of the grant was generously increased at the end of 1997. The numbers of international and domestic trips for collaborative work funded by the project for the period (1997/1998) are summarized as follows. Travels from Japan to USA (4) ; from Japan to Germany (4) ; from USA to Germany (2) ; from USA to Japan (3) ; from Germany to Japan (1), and domestic travels in Japan (6). As part of these travels by the participants of the project, each visiting collaborator has presented his/her up-to date research results. In addition, scientific exchanges made possible by these trips have provided information dealing with on-going research, and allowed discussions of time requirements, themes, and the style of future collaborations. As a result of such interchanges, a total of 60 scientific papers were published by these investigators for 1997/1998, and a total of more than 100 presentation were made at international and domestic scientific meetings.
