Research Abstract

It was great sorrow that prof. Hangai, who was the chief researcher of this project, has passed away about two years ago. Dr. Kawaguchi took over prof. Hangais's position to continue the project. With the aid of other investigators the project was completed as it had been planed.
In order to express arbitrary three dimensional shape for CG homotopy method has been developed. In homology method three dimensional shapes were sliced by their contor lines and accumulated in its vertical direction. In this research a new design strategy to realize spatial structures with any arbitrary shape is developed by means of homotopy approach. Homotopy structures can (a) fit any plan shape, (b) can create large span space, (c) can be easily fit for prefabrication and (d) can be built without any scafolding.
In this research (1) basic concept and architectural planning, (2) structural behavior and structural concept, (3) building scheme and details and (4) large scale realization were studied.
