| Research Abstract |
本研究は、各研究分担者間で相互に情報を交換しつつ互いに独立に研究を進めるという、独特の研究形態をとった。以下に示すように、各分担者の研究は、密接に関係しながら互いに刺激を与え合うことにより、実施計画に示した目標の達成はもちろん、それ以上の成果を得ることができた。
1山田は、二次元量子重力理論の可積分構造と特異点理論の関係を追求した。この研究の結果、KP方程式、Drinfeld-Sokolov方程式、Painleve方程式などとの本質的な関わりが見出され、Painleve方程式の理解、特に、その対称性の起源について大きな成果を得ることが出来た。この結果は、単にPainleve方程式に留まらず、数理物理の様々なテーマとの関連において、今後の発展が期待されている。
2梁は、N=2超対称ゲージ理論を記述するSeiber-Witten曲線やその一般化である幾何学を系統的かつ具体的に解析した。この研究により、特異点理論との深い関係が明らかになり、特に、例外型り一群をゲージ群にもつ場合の、対応する幾何構造の解明に成功した。
3細野は、ミラー対称性の研究をさらに発展させた。特に、K3ならびに楕円ファイバーをもつカラビ・ヤオ多様体のGromov-Witten不変量の計算において、重要な成果をあげた。高い種数の曲線の数え上げの問題についても、理論的、計算的な面で着実な進展が得られている。
