Research Abstract |
X-ray holography has two versions : X-ray fluorescence holography (XFH) and multiple-energy X-ray holography (MEXH). In XFH fluorescent X-rays emmited from a target atom serve as reference and object waves, while in MEXH incident monochromatic X-rays serve as reference and object waves. We tried both of them in this fiscal year. We made experiments of X-ray holography twice at Photon Factory of the institute of Material Structure Science. The sample used is a perfect Ge(111) crystal and the target fluorescent X-ray is GeK alpha radiation excited by incident X-rays with wavelength of 1.0 A.Both measurements were performed under the following conditions. XFH : azimuth angle was changed from 0゚ to 360゚ with division of 5゚. Zenithal angle was changed from 10゚ to 50゚ with division of 5゚. Count at each measurement point was more than 10^6. MEXH : azimuth angle was changed from 0゚ to 360゚ with division of 5゚. Zenithal angle was changed from 10゚ to 80゚ with division of 5゚. Count at each measurement point was more than 10^5. Three fold symmetric patterns that reflect the structure of Ge(111) appeared after subtracting backgrounds from all raw data and smoothing them. The atomic arrangements of Ge(111) crystal in real space were sucsessfuly reconstructed by the Fourier transform of the data.
