Research Abstract |
(l) The performances of the thermal decomposition of polyethylene have been investigated. The relationships between temperature, space-time, reaction rate and yields of products were explored. (2) The dehydrochlorination reaction rate model of poly(vinyl chloride) has been developed. The model predicted well the reaction rate for both isothermal and nonisothermal dehydrochlorination. (3) Flash pyrolisis and catalytic degradation of PVC were carried out with small-scale equipment to investigate the product components. As a result, it was shown that BTX (benzene, toluene, and xylene) yield increased much by use of HZSM5 catalyst. The optimum operating condition has been explored. (4) The numerical model for the flow rates in a spouted bed that has great prospect of being a large-scale plastic flash pyloriser has been developed. The model calculations show to predict experimental particle flow rates in good accuracy. The discrete element method was proofed to predict the spoutable conditions very well. (5) The spouted bed plastic flash pyloriser has been developed. Polyethylene pellets were thermally decomposed by use of the spouting media particles. Operating conditions for good spouting were explored. (6) The product of decomposing polyethylene by this equipment is high temperature volatile oil, which is like wax at room temperature. The catalytic converter was equipped in series to this pyloriser for the reforming. This reforming yielded light oils and gas products.
