Research Abstract |
THE AIM OF THIS STUDY WAS TO ANALYZE THE DENTURE MOVEMENT WITH MEASURING THE MAGNETIC FIELD STRENGTH AND TO MINIMIZE THE DENTURE BASE WITHIN A LIMIT OF ALLOWABLE DENTURE MOVEMENT.AN INSTRUMENT (D-MI) FOR MEASURING THE MAGNETIC FIELD STRENGTH APPLYING MI SENSOR WAS USED IN ORDER TO SURVEY THE DENTURE MOVEMENT.IN CASE WITH USING THE MARKER MAGNETS, THE OUTPUT VOLTAGE VARIED AS A FUNCTION OF DISTANCE BETWEEN THE TARGET AND THE MI SENSOR WITHIN A LIMIT OF O<D<5MM DISTANCE, THE MORE THE DISTANCE INCREASED, THE LOWER THE VOLTAGE WAS.IF THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE MAGNET AND THE SENSOR WAS FIXED TO 15MM SUPPOSING THE HUMAN SUBJECTS, THE VOLTAGE INCREASED LINEARLY AGAINST THE HORIZONTAL SLIDE ZMM.SECONDARILY, IT WAS EXAMINED WHETHER THE DENTURE MOVEMENT WAS PROPORTIONAL TO THE LEAKED MAGNETIC FIELD PRODUCED BY THE SLIDE BETWEEN THE MAGNETIC ASSEMBLY AND THE KEEPER THE MEASUREMENT WAS PERFORMED ON THE CONDITION THAT THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE ASSEMBLY AND THE SENSOR WAS FIXED TO 15MM AND THAT THE SLIDE BETWEEN THE ASSEMBLY AND THE KEEPER WAS CHANGED FROM 0MM TO0.5MM.THE RESULTS WERE AS FOLLOWS ; THE STRENGTH OF THE LEAKED MAGNETIC FIELD WAS PROPORTIONAL TO THE SLIDE DISTANCE WITHIN A LIMIT OF 0<D<0.5MM.THE 0.2MV VOLTAGE CHANGE CORRESPONDED TO 0.01MM HORIZONTAL SLIDE.THEREFORE IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE STRENGTH OF THE LEAKED MAGNETIC FIELD COULD BE AN INDEX OF THE DENTURE MOVEMENT.FINALLY ONE MAGNETIC DENTURE WEARER WAS USED TO MEASURE THE DENTURE MOVEMENT.THE DENTURE BASE WAS GRADUALLY REDUCED AND RATIO OF DENTURE MOVEMENT WAS CALCULATED.IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE SIZE OF THE DENTURE BASE INFLUENCES THE DENTURE MOVEMENT AND PROPER SIZE (NOT TOO EXTENDED AND NOT TOO REDUCED) IS NEEDED TO MINIMIZE THE DENTURE MOVEMENT.
