Research Abstract |
DEVELOPMENT OF INSTRUMENT TO MEASURE THE CONCENTRATION OF HOX RADICALS IN AMBIENT AIR BY USING LASER INDUCED FLUORESCENCE TECHNIQUE WAS PERFORMED. TO GET ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE OF ATMOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY SYNTHETIC OBSERVATIONAL STUDIES OF OH AND OTHER REACTIVE TRACE GASES IN REMOTE ATMOSPHERE WERE CARRIED OUT IN 1998 AT OKI ISLAND AND IN 1999 AT OKINAWA ISLAND. IN OKI OBSERVATION WE FOUND NEW HOX RADICAL SOURCE IN NIGHTTIME AS OZONOLYSIS REACTION WITH BIOGENIC OLEFINS. IN OKINAWA WE SUCCEEDED TO MEASURE OH RADICAL AND AVERAGE CONCENTRATION IN NOON TIME WAS DETERMINED TO BE CA. 3 X 10ィイD16ィエD1 RADICALS CMィイD1-3ィエD1. OZONE PRODUCTION POTENTIAL IS FOUND To BE QUITE HIGH EVEN IN THE CLEAN REMOTE ISLAND LIKE OKINAWA. THERE ARE CONSIDERABLE AMOUNTS OF OZONE PRECOURSORS LIKE BIOGENIC OLEFINS AND ALSO BIGENIC NOx. OZONE PRODUCITON RATE IN NOON TIME WAS ESTIMATED TO BE 4 PPPB DAYィイD1-1ィエD1.
