| Research Abstract |
It is very important for dental patients to decrease the pain and stress concerned on dental treatment. Now new laser application has been developing, for caries treatment, scaling and root canal treatment. Some investigators said that laser treatment did not cause the pain and stress to a patient. But it is very difficult to judge the existence and level of pain and stress. The purpose of this research is to establish the scientific judging methods of the existence and level of pain and stress.
To judge the pain and stress, we pay the attentions to living body reactions, especially perspiration, electrocardiogram and skin temperature. Because those reactions were caused by some stress through the autonomic nervous system.
We can get the exact judge criterion of dental stress using the continue recording machine of local perspiration (Kenz-Perspiro OSS-100) attached to a finger. But the change of skin temperature at the palm of a hand, measuring by Mitsubishi Thermal Imager IR-M700, can not display the dental stress of a patient.
In the near future we should attend another living body reactions to the pain or stress to increase the preciseness of judgment of stress.
