Research Abstract |
1. Collection of Materials Material of historical background and social basis cavers a domain of Indian archeology, and history of fine arts and society. I have investigated the bibliographies kept in the library of Toyo-Bunko, International College of Advanced Buddhist Studies, Tohoku University, etc., which collected materials indispensable for my research. 2. Arrangement of Materials (1) Study of historical background I have arranged the names of Nikaya Buddhism and monasteries in the traditions and historical evidences, in connection with Buddhist inscriptions, and input the data. (2) Study of doctrines/theories I have arranged the propositions of Nikaya Buddhism and Mahayana schools in the Buddhist texts, in connection with transition of theory as the problem history, and input the data. 3. Examination of Data I have obtained cooperation from the specialists of information processing in Research Institute for Iron, Steel and Other Metals, Tohoku University, for the programming of data-processing and indices. 4. Publishing Schedule Formation of Nikaya Buddhism and Its Development Vol. I : History, Vol. II : Thought Origin of Mahayana Buddhism
