Research Abstract |
Raman lidar system which can measure vertical distribution of air temperature and water vapor concentration even in the daytime with much background light in planetary boundary layer (1-2km altitude) was developed. Important techniques in this study are development of narrow bandpass filter and wavelength-tunable laser. Atomic vapor dispersive Faraday filter was developed to realize narrow bandpass filter. Using the sodium Faraday filter, the background light strength in the daytime was measured. The background light is quite large under the condition of the cloud. Dye laser and Ti: sapphire laser are chosen for wavelength-tunable laser. The vibratlonal Raman lidar for water vapor measurement and rotational Raman lidar for temperature measurement were also developed. The final evaluation on possibility, of the daytime measurement was carried out with the computer simulation.
