Research Abstract |
This study deals with aseismatic characteristics of parking towers and apartment buildings which are connected with parking tower. Especially it is remarked the structures of the type of parking towers which are linked to building by slide-springs, and examined how dynamically they response when an earthquake occurs. Although parking towers are flexible and buildings are non-flexible, they avoid resonance and show aseismicity quite well as they respond to earthquake. This is caused by the fact that when the structure approach to a state of resonance, movable masses on each floor begin to slide and slide-springs carry out reducing resonance. It is resulted that the linked structures of parking tower and building by slide springs are more aseismatic characters than non-linked buildings or parking tower
