Research Abstract |
Having formed a database of the Horiguchi Collection owned by Meiji University, we have made its contents and characteristics clear as shown below ; 1) The total number of the items is 3,727 ; 2,679 drawings and 1,048 documents, letters posters and photos. 2) These can be grouped into three categories ; a) items on his works (2,812), b) items thought to be related to his works (386), c) miscellanneous items (254) 3) These items date between 1918 and 1965, covering most of his career as an architect. 4) More than 42 works were newly found as his works. 5) In the items for some works, design and planning process can be traced. It is safe to say that this collection is very valuable to delve into Horiguchi's designs and a history of modern architecture in Japan.
