Research Abstract

1. Experiments
The experimental proposal to KEK was approved until 1998.10. Measurements were made at the beamline BL-3A at the Photon Factory, KEK under crystal grain projection method setup. Hot-rolled aluminum alloy sheets with O-10% Mg were reheated and cold- rolled to 0.5 mm in thickness. Cold-rolled specimens were made by cutting and the high temperature measurement of grain growth process was carried out. After heating cold-rolled specimens in laboratory, room temperature measurement was made to reveal the effect of Mg on primary recrystallization.
2. Data Analysis method
(1) A personal computer (Gateway, G6-266), a data processing software (Rigaku, CONTROLWIN) and an image analysis software (Media Cybernetics, Image-Pro Plus) were equipped and BMP type image data transfer from the data processing software to the image analysis software has become feasible.
(2) The number of grains was counted correctly and the size of grains were estimated semi quantitatively by using 15 mu m standard powder specimen.
3. Analysis of the effect of addition of Mg and grain growth process
(1) In the case of additioning of 6-7% Mg, ND-rotated cube was the main orientation. But at-9% Mg, projected patterns related cube orientation were observed.
(2) At high temperature grain growth process of pure Al were observed. Isochronally some grains disappeared or had become very small, otherwise many grains hold their size. At high temperatures, change of X-ray integrated intensity, corresponding to crystal grain size, were observed dynamically.
4. Successively, strain of grains and pole figures composed by grains with different grain size will be studied.
